Ceramics machining and machinists (Bay Area focus)

Page history last edited by Patrick Myall 14 years, 2 months ago
Though Macor (machineable) ceramic rod ordered thru McMaster Carr can serve for some early prototyping, if you really need high tolerance parts made from high performance ceramics, go to a speciality shop.

Ian Melody: (paraphrasing) Ceramics machining is quite specialized, so you're always best served to find a vendor who specializes in it.  (diamond tipped borring bars, diamond abrasvives, help w/ material selection, etc).

From Christine Mcelhaney: http://www.haywardquartz.com/Homepage.htm is on Applied Materials approved vendor list. "Don't know if they're willing to work on small orders considering they can do production, but they claim to have "R&D."

From David Maltz: Gary Hom at http://bhceramicsinc.com/html/company.html  We've used them for some pretty simple ops, with large volumes, so I can't speak to their ability to meet your needs.

http://www.smallprecisiontools.com   Ask for Travis Ayers. (707) 762-5880 x 612  5 year old ref, so he may not be there anymore. - Robert Miros
